Rights of PassageThe odds of kids successfully moving to independent living are better when they have longer-term stable housing and continuing support to make that transition. Once youth in our shelter are making progress, they can qualify for our longer-term housing program – Rights of Passage (ROP).
Up to 28 young people, aged 18 to 24, who are working and/or continuing their education, can stay for up to a year. These youth, who have a room of their own, share responsibility for common areas, learn life skills like household chores and banking and save money to prepare them to be on their own.
Last year, 31 young people moved on to independent living from the program, which offers continuous entry throughout the year. To support programs like Rights of Passage, click here.
